Workshop for the month: Pouring Art with Jan Kurtz
From the President: Wow! Isn’t this weather fabulous? Finally, we have Fall - crisp mornings and warm days. Love it! And we dodged Ida, thank heavens.
Well, this week-end will be our Nov. meeting and I am sure we are all going to be challenged and invigor-ated by our Jan Kurtz workshop. Several members are coming to watch and not participate, and that is fine. If you are taking the workshop, be sure to bring a lunch as this will be a long one! And if you have not already done so, please let me or Linda know if you are going to take the workshop. The supply list was sent out in Oct. but if you didn’t print it or can’t find it, let me know.
Only four weeks from Saturday is our ArtFest. After meeting with the committee today, I am very excited about this year. We are going to be blessed with the Hobbs Middle School Band and Chorus (who will bring parents and grandparents along!) Besides our Larry Frazier raffle, there will be a Jim Berry original for silent auction. Live demonstrations by artists; door prizes all day long. And great heart warming home-made soups! We NEED YOU to get excited too. If you cannot make this Saturday’s meeting, please call me, or Paula or Pat d’Asaro 623-8493 or Jim Berry 626-0547 to let us know how you will help to make this the best ever — we need kitchen workers, soup and dessert donations and we need EVERYONE to send out notices to all your email friends about this show.
PROFILE - We are very privileged to have TWO members this year from Okaloosa County. Both Mary Richardson and Trace Connelly come to us from Crestview. Trace is a very versatile artist, using beads, clay, wire, fibers, watercolor, glass, acrylics and pencils. She has lived in New Mexico, Arizona, Boston and Virginia and is originally from Woodbury, NJ. Having three boys, she must find it challenging to be so creative. We welcome both of our neighbors from the East. More on Mary next month.......
Announcements: We have several fellow artists who will be involved with the Bead Society Show at the Wright Center on Dec. 4-5. Please don’t miss this wonderful show.
Mark your calendars for Dec. 13, Sunday, 3 p.m. for our annual Christmas party at the home of Darlene Samuel. She will fill us in on the details at Saturday’s meeting........
Several of our artists will also be involved with Milton’s First Friday Fest on Dec. 4 which is always a special one, with Christmas themed decorations, music, etc.
