Workshop for the month:        Creating beautiful letters - Calligraphy with Dona Stenstrom

From the President:   It seems the last two newsletters began with weather commentaries so I will continue the trend, this time with kudos for Mother Nature.  Isn’t Spring wonderful?  Everything around us is bursting with color (and, of course, pollen!).  Doesn’t it just make you want to paint, photograph, get your creative juices flowing?
Dulce, Raissa, Paige and I spent this past week-end being creatively challenged in a most wonderful way at the workshop I described last month.  WONDERFUL artist from California who stretched us and made us create “outside the box.”  We will bring our finished work to show everyone.
This month’s workshop will be presented by one of our Calligraphic cohorts, Dona Stenstrom, who is a wonderful teacher.  Please don’t be intimidated by the word Calligraphy; people do NOT have to have good handwriting to do calligraphy.  It is a learned art, which anyone can learn.  Please let me know by the 24th if you will be taking the workshop so Dona can bring sufficient practice paper.  If you have graph paper, bring it along.
We welcome back a former member who moved to TN after Ivan and has returned to the Gulf Coast, another wonderful quilter Paula Ernst.

PROFILE - We are so fortunate this year to have many new members who give us life and inspiration. And several of our members even come to us from Okaloosa County.  This month’s artist was actually born in Crestview and lives there now.  She works in textiles, fibers, beads, watercolor and acrylics and has won awards for her quilts at the Pensacola Quilt Guild show.  During her teaching years, she was awarded nine creative teaching grants.  Wouldn’t it have been great to be one of her students?   She continues to be inspired by other people’s work and nature.  She and her husband John have two daughters.  If someone came in our meeting and called for “Mrs. Richardson,” we would both turn around......our featured artist this month is Mary Richardson.  We are fortunate to have her as one of us!!!

Announcements:   Our member Pat D’Asaro is at home.
Jim Berry has successfully completed his Nominating Committee task and will present his slate of officers at the March meeting.  Elections will be in April with installation at a May gathering.

Submissions to the Newsletter:
Please send me tidbits of info you would like to share – classes available other places, art shows, interesting websites, SALES, and, of course, pictures of your work.

Wishing you happy creating.......don’t let a day go by that you don’t CREATE something, even if it is just in your mind!!!!!!
